Thursday the 31st of March, class Amina had a percussion workshop with Dave from Jabba Jabba Djembe from 10.40-3.20. Emnett had it the previous week and they said it was brilliant so i couldn't wait. First of all Dave came in and introduced himself and his dog challie wottie. After we had to go to his deadly Jabba Jabba Djembe van and get all the djembes. We then had to take all the coats of the djembes. We all then picked one. Everyone seemed to go for the big ones but not everyone got one because there wasnt enough big ones, but everyone got a shot of each type of drum. At first we started off with some simple beats. As we got further into the day we were given different beats and rhythms to follow which were harder. He showed us how to applaud someone like they do in Africa. He then gave us different instruments from Africa to add into the song. He showed us a video about Africa and how everything they do is in a beat. Like when they talk it is said in a rhythm. The video also showed us how Djembe's are made. After big lunch we done a bit of samba with our drums. Myself and Lauren got up and danced to the samba :) Even some of the teachers joined in which they seemed to enjoy. It was a really fun day :) i think it was near the best day of ty so far. I learned alot about myself too , i learned that i can play the drums and keep in rhythm which i thought i couldn't do. I think everyone seemed to enjoy themselves :)
