New Talents Already :)

Since the start of the year we have been doing so much things that help us learn more about ourselves and one another. We have taken up new subjects since the junior cert like music, home-economics and many more.
In music we have learned loads of new things such as learning how to sing, stand in the right position so your voice projects better and louder and we have even learned how to play cords on the guitar.
In home-economics i was taught by the other students in my class how to use the sowing machine, stitch, taking and the basic things to help make our outfits for the school fashion show.
Everyday we get better and better at our new talents and learn more on the way.

Rugby Every Wednesday :)

In P.E for the past 2/3 weeks every Wednesday for our double class we have been taught how to play rugby. There is 2 people that come in from the Leinster rugby team, a man and a woman. Basically the aim of this activity is to help us to get to know one another better and to work as a team.
Tom and Jane teach us the basic steps of rugby such as passing the ball , throwing the ball and how to run with the ball and the rules that we must go by. There is alot of interaction which is great to help you get to know each other. There is alot of group work and so far its great fun and thank god no one has been injured so far.

A Blog About Water ..

For all human beings in the 1st World and 2nd World the majority of people have access to clean water. Water is an important part of living , it keeps you clean , hydrates you and is a source of energy.  Well one hundred thousand billion people don't have access to clean water , think about it. People are dying due to not having access to water.
Most people that have access to clean water would say that they don't like water or drink it. The amount of water people waste that we get at the click of a finger could actually cost someones life in a 3rd world country. We need to count ourselves lucky and be grateful that we have access to water with the turn of a tap whilst those in the likes of Africa would have to walk 5-10 miles to get a bucket full of water.

Formula 1 In Schools

F1 in schools is a competition where students in each technology class have to get themselves into groups and we have to manufacture compressed air-powered racing cars. Student teams will compete against each other in a National Championship to determine the best-engineered and fastest car in Ireland. My team consists of 6 people , Me , Lauren , Grace, Chloe, Aoife and Niamh. We were all given specific tasks to do such as manufacturing engineer. Our team name is Turbo Speed .

Geography Project :)

In geography class , we were assigned a project in groups. We were put into groups of 6. The group has to go on a virtual trip to 6 countries, 2 from first world countries, 2 from second world countries and 2 from third world countries. I am researching Egypt and Madagascar which are 3rd world countries. We have a year to do our trip  and were on a spending budget of 12,000e. First of all we have to do some research on the country of our choice and then plan what were going to do. We have to do things that are unique like swimming down the River Nile not like going shopping or sun-bathing. My flight from Dublin Airport to Cairo International Egypt costs ONLY 344e :O.

Bt Young Scientist, Pastoral Care, Home-Ec, Pe :)

Finally a month of Transistion Year. A great month already we have had , we have done so much and learned so much about ourselves and eachother. In science we were put into our groups for Bt Young Scientist. I am with Lauren Tierney and our project is based on the effects of caffeine on the human body and warn people about caffeine and how it can effect you.

In Pastoral Care (aka SPHE)we meditated. We relaxed while we listened to beautiful hymns in the background. Ms K'Bracken talked us throughout the meditation. We had to imagine ourselves as our "10 year old-self" and see the changes from then and now.

In home-ec , we were asigned a project. The right side of the the room had to research John Rocha and the left had to research Louise Kennedy. Both of these are fashion designers, situated in Ireland.
Here is the link to John Rochas Site , click here , and Louise Kennedy here

In Pe it turned out to be a great class, it was really fun. We played a soccer tournament , Amina and Emnet were together so we could get to know Emnet a little bit better. We were put into 6 groups consisting of 9 per team. My team wore red bibs. We played four matches. At the end Mr.Lawlor announed the winner which was my team who won every game due to the co-operation of the fellow students . :)
